The Digital Mazey Design Studio is setting up shop. A range of posters and limited edition prints will be available to buy online in the coming months. I'll keep you posted when they're available...

New T-Shirt Design

I'm honoured to be working with local charity Linc again on a new t-shirt design for their forthcoming Make a Difference campaign. Linc are dedicated to supporting patients and their families affected by leukaemia, lymphoma and other blood cancers.

They wanted the design to be bright and colourful (just like a rainbow) for the front and back of their t-shirts. I've used geometric, coloured shapes to modernise the theme, creating an abstract rainbow that will suit both genders.

Please take a look and let me know if you like them. You can also find out more about the charity here: www.lincfund.org

Digital Mazey - Doing Her Bit For Charity

This month I've been working on a design for a charity called Sporting Swindon.

As the charity branding is in its early stages, I was flattered to be asked to design their logo. Still, having all of the below sporting aspects included was quite a challenge - but I do love a challenge...

Items included in briefing: a dartboard, a dart, a pool cue, a pool ball, a bowling ball and a bowling pin.

Design Simplicity

Sometime simplicity can be key to a design's success. Sometimes it can just be plain nice. No bells, no whistles.

I created this steel cup of water using only components created from flat shapes and colour in Photoshop. Simple designs are also versatile. This cup wouldn't look out of place as a logo, icon or advert.

Don't forget you can see more of my work, and keep up to date with my design news, by signing up to  receive my newsletter here!

D is for design

As a lover of typography, I have been working on a range of type-faces for my portfolio.
Here is a quick preview of the gold type I have just completed.

An edible emulsion of fat globules made by churning milk or cream!

Butter - A snippet preview of a new website design I have been working on.

I have paid homage to the way the mixture of fonts and words can convey an air of tangibility. The rounded softness of the Cooper Black font juxtaposed with the buttery yellow colour emphasises the feel and look of butter without needing to display an image or photo.

Simplicity, nicely churned.

Buttons - simplicity is key

As a designer, much of my time is spent designing to meet the brand expectations of the consumer. So I have been looking into design components (from scratch). Here is what I have come up with.

Shortly I'll be applying these components to an overall design, but in the meantime, try an get your head around the process of button components. Here are a few I have created using curved shapes and Photoshop effects.

Try using 'screen' and 'bevel' effects to create simple buttons. Then using gradients, you can add shine an reflection to your buttons.
